Abby contacted me recently as she was searching for a newborn studio in Colorado Springs. She had already given birth to her baby girl and needed to find someone quickly. I have quite a bit of experience with older newborns (10+ days) so we agreed to do the session and I told her to be prepared for a longer session of 2-3 hours.
When the family arrived at the studio, little miss was totally asleep so it seemed like a great sign. By the time we started though, she was wide awake!! We decided to get some of the family pictures out of the way so that we might be able to wear her out. As the session went on, I worked on getting her back to sleep but she just kept those eyes wide open. Finally, I decided to work with her being wide awake as long as she wasn’t fussing. She ended up being wide awake for the whole newborn session and didn’t even cry very much so it wasn’t a problem at all. I like the opportunity to photograph a newborn baby who is wide awake since it provides me more experience with older babies!
